My crafy girlfriends and I made our first batch of soap recently. Even though we didn't get the fragrance quite right we had a lot of fun trying and plan to make more in the future. We have also experimented with wood burning, knitting, crochet and jewelery making. Too many fun crafts out there to choose just one! :) Amy - shoe_queen69@yahoo.com
ReplyDeleteI've started decorating flip flops. It started as a chain-status on FB where you would post that the first 5 comments would get something hand-made from you in 2011. I racked my brain for quite a few months on what to make, and finally decided flip flops were the way to go. I have been painting them so they are customized and then wrapped the top with ribbon and added a button. In this process I have learned some of the pains that crafters go through (running out of materials, going to multiple stores because some just don't carry what you need, etc). I have a lot more respect for those who do this on a regular basis and am currently debating if I'd like to start selling my flip flops as well.

Love, love, love her stuff! My 17-year old daughter loves vintage items, and these all have a vintage feel to them. My sister and I have been making some fun jewelry and accessories out of recycled items including discarded formals and jeans as well as items that go in the recycling bin. We hope to sponsor a giveaway once we have our website up and running!
ReplyDeleteLove your site! It keeps us updated as to upcoming craft shows as well as provide some great crafting ideas! Thanks!

Currently I am assisting in designing my 5 yr old's science fair board. lol But, I also have some woven headbands and some handmade cards on my to-do list.
ReplyDeleteLike Sheena, I also owe a few handmade gifts that involve scrapbooking (but I don't want to ruin any surprises). ;)
I started making soy wax tarts for a little while. I loved doing it but couldn't really turn enough profit from it, nor did I have the proper time to devote to it. I LOVE making crafts and since losing my job, I really hope to dive back into that ASAP.

ReplyDeleteWe've been playing around with other artsy craftsy stuff in what little free time we have! :) Pat found an elasticized bandanna headband/wrap thingy that we took apart to figure out how to make one for ourselves...another AHA! moment...we could make and sell these, too! Like we don't have our hands full with Book-Inz! LOL I actually picked up a package of wooden clothespins to make some cute fridge magnets...yet another AHA! moment.
ReplyDeleteCan't remember who said it, but it went something like this:
Put into the world what you would like in it.
I took that to mean that i need to create what I want to see...speaking of...I really need to see about getting myself the neato burrito Curious Canvas that I want! Still haven't cleaned out my sewing room...it's not gonna happen in this lifetime! LOL
Have been making cards and envelopes; nice to get a fancy surprise in the mail :)
ReplyDeleteI a knitter, not too great at it, mostly simple things, but I want to make a hot water bottle cover. I have the bottle, and the patterns I have seen are cool. Have other projects going on of course, but this one I think would be a great gift - the bottle and cover.

I recently purchased a small compact camera and didn't want to buy a bulky case for it, so I instead made one with felt! I saw one on etsy and got inspired. It turned out surprisingly well, and it's a lot cuter/personalized than some generic case. I even threaded on a 'lens' for it :)
ReplyDeletemy email address is thecalidreamer (at) gmail (dot) com. Thanks!
I just redid a dresser to be used in the kitchen for a dish storage area. It turned out super cute!

My house is floor to ceiling craft stuff! I've been making candles and luxury soaps since 1999. A few years later I added jewelry, hand-made cards, tags, t-shirts and anything that I think I can sell after losing my job 3 years ago. My grandmother and mother just got me into knitting recently. And with my cute hairbows...they will be adorable for shows this fall.
ReplyDeleteI'm in a sorority, and it's custom to give handmade gifts during some events--I have more felt and puff paint than I know what to do with! I crafted a blanket and pillow with a sister's name.
ReplyDeleteMy email is paintyourxtarget (at) gmail (dot) com. Thanks!
Such cute stuff! I have been looking at a lot of street art lately and I'd really like to put up some kind of urban installation around town with a happy/inspirational/whimsical message. something small and surprising.
ReplyDeletearwenmoon at gmail dot com. thanks!
I have been knitting dishcloths for a friend, but I would like to start knitting socks sometime, as well!

Love Kristi's designs! I haven't had the chance to craft much lately, but I did wrap up our 2010 scrapbook. Looking forward to getting back into by starting our 2011 album. :)
