Happy New Year & Giveaway

Happy New Year, DFW Craft Shows! I hope 2012 brings you nothing but successful shows where you can showcase your superb talents and make new friends. Personally, 2011 was a very difficult year for myself and my family. When I was truly struggling, I found friends and comfort in this site, more so than I would have ever expected. Your support and love has lifted me up and I am so thankful for all my new (and old) DFWCS friends. So, I lift my virtual glass to you and to all the new friends we may make in 2012.  Clink.

This week's giveaway is sponsored by Katrina Peebles of ecoFashionistasecoFashionistas was created by two sisters, Karla Schafer and Katrina Peebles.  These two amazingly talented ladies collaborate to create unique jewelry and accessories from recycled materials.  Their up-cycled fashion gives a new purpose to recyclable materials, resulting in environmentally friendly products of high style and quality.

Above is just one example of their creative minds at work in these beautiful Hymnal Bracelets.  A couple of years ago, Karla's and Katrina's parents had a fire in their barn where they had been storing some bibles and hymnals for their church. Sadly, all the books were lost in the fire. About a week after the fire, Karla saw charred pages caught among the grasses in the pasture. She gathered them up knowing that she would one day find a use for them.

How to enter: Simply leave a comment (here or on Facebook) and tell us one goal you have for the New Year.  For a BONUS entry, share this giveaway on Facebook or Twitter (don't forget to tag us!) and leave a comment below letting us know you have done so.  Please don't forget to leave an email address with your entry, if I cannot contact you then you cannot collect your prize!

Contest ends at 10:00PM on Tuesday, January 10th, 2012.  Winners will be announced Wednesday, January 11th, 2012.  Entries open to the US only.

Congratulations to Janet!  You have won a Hymnal Bracelet by ecoFashionistas, a $22.95 value.  Each of these unique bracelets contains charred pieces of the hymnals in a lovely copper-colored setting protected by a resin coating. There are only a few pages left, so there will only be a limited number of bracelets made.  Due to the uniqueness of this product, bracelets may vary slightly from the photo shown. Length is 7 1/4" to 9 1/4" with the adjustable chain.

Didn't win?  Check out their site to see the new form of many more amazing recycled products such as old jeans, magazines, bottle caps, aluminum cans, and more!
